How Angelbaby went from dropping on Sound to million of streams in Web2
Virtual star Angelbaby is picking up speed on Spotify, hitting 300k+ monthly streams and cracking 1 million on their song “Life is Good.” Angelbaby is also one of the most innovative artists on Sound today. With over 8K editions sold and a volume of over 13 ETH on Sound alone, as well as collaborations with artists like Reo Cragun and TK, they are undoubtedly one of the most influential artists dropping music today.
Recently, they launched the Unseen Club, an exclusive collection of digi-physical merchandise. They partnered with IYK, Bonfire, and Coop Records to create a seamless experience connecting the merch to the music. And the collectors of the hoodie got to own 100% of the limited editions and proceeds from Free Editions.
Angelbaby’s success on Sound has helped to fuel their overall goal of being the world’s biggest virtual artist. Here’s what they had to say about their experience:
“in the traditional music industry it's close to impossible to have a real relationship with your fans just through streaming. releasing music onchain has allowed me to reach fans that want to support me and be on this journey with me. on sound i see that support in the comments as soon as i release a song and it fills me up. onchain is the future of music and fan to artist relationships 🐰🌐”

Takeaways from Angelbaby’s Success
Angelbaby has given the community the power in the Hume ecosystem. Owning a Hume Genesis Pass or Angelbaby NFT allows collectors to enter “The Spot” and vote on decisions. With the latest track, “am i just high?,” everyone who visited The Spot and cast their vote got airdropped two limited editions. These kinds of community decisions have helped them to grow a dedicated fanbase around their releases.
You can follow the same strategy by rewarding collectors for taking action on your drops. You can use our presale feature to give a discount to past collectors on new drops, or you can reward actions on our social feed for curators. These kinds of interactions can go a long way as you build you brand as an artist.

Breaking Artist: Belle Mt.
The indie alternative band has dropped three tracks on Sound to support their web2 career where they have over 60 million streams. After starting out with two limited drops of just 25 editions each, they broke the mold this time, dropping “Mean World Syndrome // The Sample Tape.” and surging to #1 on the Viral Chart. The tape features snippets of the songs from the band’s debut album, making it a unique release for the platform.
“It’s exciting to see our album sampler for ‘Mean World Syndrome’ being received with such love and enthusiasm by the community on Sound. It’s great to have new music lovers discover our debut album this way!” - Matt Belmont
